• Art I-This course is open to students in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. This is an introductory class that offers every student an opportunity to explore various visual art forms and techniques through the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. Elements are Line, Shape, Value, Color, Space, Form, and Texture. Principles are Balance, Pattern, Unity, Contrast, Emphasis, Movement, and Rhythm. Students will be introduced to a variety of media through two-dimension and three-dimensional approaches to creating and responding to visual arts.
  • Applied Art - This course will introduce students to the historical, cultural, and contemporary craft movements. This will include exploring areas of paper, dyes and fibers, jewelry design, weaving folk art, mosaics, fused glass and other crafts.
  • Pottery- Successful completion of Art I is required. This course will explore various approaches to clay construction while applying the elements of art and principles of design to create three dimensional form. The course will emphasize hand building methods as well as an introduction to the pottery wheel. Various decorating techniques and clay firing processes will also be introduced.
  • Drawing and Painting - Successful completion of Art I and Art II preferred. This is an intermediate level course specializes in various drawing and painting media and techniques. Emphasis is placed on representation of still life, landscapes, animals, and human form. Art history is incorporated into the curriculum. Media will include pencil, ink, charcoal, pastels, watercolors, and paint.
  • Art II - Successful completion of Art I is required. This class will continue to review the Elements of Art and Principles of Design as well as new applications for skills and concepts learned in Art I. There will be a focus on the history of art and artists included in the study of art.
  • Graphic Design - Description
